I have stayed in a number of hotels across the island and the ones below are my favourites.
Il Principe Hotel Catania
(Via Alessi 24, 95124)
The ‘Il Principe’ is my favourite hotel in Catania. This hotel is in the heart of the city centre and a short walk to the duomo and the cathedral. A great location for enjoying the bars and restaurants in the evenings and ideal as a base for visiting attractions such as the Etna as tour buses will pick you up from the hotel. This is a 4 star hotel and the breakfast is excellent and rooms nice.
(Via Monte Sant’Agata 5, 95128)
If you prefer to have a self-catering option, Ferrini Home is a very good choice. If you are no more than four people, this luxury apartment in the historical part of the city comes with air conditioning (important in the summer months), a fully equipped kitchen and WiFi. The airport bus (number: 457) stops very close to the apartment and the apartments themselves when I stayed were spacious and very clean and with a lovely terrace.
Best Western Hotel Mediterraneo
(Via Dottor Consoli 27, 95124)
I have stayed in the Best Western twice and really enjoyed my stay. Lovely breakfast, very central location and great if you want to do some shopping and decent sized rooms with WiFi included and what us British visitors always like, tea and coffee machine.
Grand Hotel Et Des Palmes
(Via Roma, 398)
This is a lovely hotel which you can sense the history when stepping into it. Some areas of the hotel perhaps could do with an upgrade but this is a classically designed hotel befitting of Sicily. Very central so a great location and close to the main shopping areas.
Ibis Styles Palermo
(Via Francesco Crispi 230)
Very close to the Port of Palermo, this hotel is a relatively short walk to the old town area of the city and close to many of the main attractions. The room I stayed i was large and I enjoyed the breakfast and the bar area in the evenings. A decent hotel in line with the Ibis brand standards one has come to expect.
Hotel Villa Schuler
(Piazzetta Bastione / Via Roma, 98039)
My favourite hotel in Taormina. Great location, fantastic views whilst you have breakfast on a terrace and the staff when I have stayed have always been super friendly.
Hotel Villa Belvedere
(Via Bagnoli Croci, 79)
Stunning views from the balcony from our room, the facilities include a swimming pool and a simple but very nice breakfast. All main attractions are within a short walking distance.
Grande Albergo Alfeo
(Via Nino Bixio, 5, 96100)
A very affordable hotel and for the price I think excellent value. Large rooms with all the modern conveniences such as air conditioning and WiFi. Love they food they serve!
