Flights and Flying into Sicily

aeroporto

A number of airlines fly into Sicily and these have included budget airlines such as Easyjet and Ryanair. With airlines taxes these days and with all of the add-ons, even the budget flights can sometimes seem similar to the standard fares. So, we have done our best below to list the various airlines and we leave it to you to try and find the best fares.

Alitalia

The national airline for Italy offer frequent flights into Sicily to both Catania and Palermo. Flights are not usually that cheap but they fly often. The great thing about flying with Alitalia is that they have a dozen or so flights a day into Catania and other Sicilian airports such as Palermo. If you were unfortunate to miss a flight then Alitalia offer you the best opportunity of getting onto another flight without any trouble (unless you are flying on the last flight in the evening). If you are flying between Sicily and the UK, Easyjet can be better because of their direct flights but if you do not mind connecting in Rome or Milan (perhaps you wish to see one of these cities also during your trip) then you can check http://www.alitalia.com/gb_en/.

AirBerlin

An excellent option for budget flights is to fly into Catania with connections a number of German cities and some other locations within Europe. BOOK with Air Berlin.

Easyjet

Easyjet are one of the newest airlines to delve into the Sicilian market and their flights between Gatwick (London) and Luton airport to Catania are a great option for those of you happy to fly from London. As previously mentioned, the beauty of the Easyjet flights are that they are direct flights and thus within 2 hours 30 min’s of leaving London, you are landing in Sicily! Prices tend to be very competitive although remember that the earlier you book, the best price you are likely to get. More from the Easyjet site. (NEW 2015: New flights between Bristol and Catania – summertime only though).
