10 Reasons to Visit Sicily, Italy
Reasons to visit Sicily in Italy
1. Mount Etna – Visiting the tallest active
Volcano in Europe and 2nd tallest in the world should
be a good enough reason to visit Sicily, I mean, how
often can you say you’ve done that? The east
province of Catania is home to Mount
Etna and trips to the Volcano and the surrounding
forest and woods are on daily.
2. The Beaches – Sicily’s beaches are
amongst the most beautiful in all of Italy. With crystal
clear blue waters and white sandy shores, just relaxing
or having a swim and watching the sun set along the
horizon create an everlasting memory. Taormina and
Catania both have excellent beaches.
3. The Greek Amphitheatre - Now the Greek amphitheater
isn’t the real main reason to visit Sicily,
more so, the views you get from being up there that
draw more people in than anything. A real must see..
the view that you get from being here overlooking
the deep blue ocean and mount Etna is something that
will leave you mesmerised.
4. The People – If you want a warm friendly
feel to Italy, head for Sicily. Warm southern hospitality
clearly evident in the ways of the local people as
they greet you with a hearty welcome.
5. The Mafia – It is believed that the Mafia
not only originated in Italy, but specifically, in
Palermo, Sicily. Wander around the province of Palermo
and soak up some of Sicily’s history and learn
what makes Palermo such an interesting place and walk
the streets that the Mafia was believed to have first
started out on.
6. The food – The food
and wine in Sicily are so good that you’ll
happily forget you were on a diet (If you had one
to begin with). Sicilian food is much more like the
Mediterranean diet with the extra spices. If you try
their food here and head for the mainland after, I
believe you’d want to come back to Sicily in
a heartbeat.
7. Romance – You’ll definitely feel the
romance when you step on this island, and what a better
way to spend quality time with your loved one in an
all-around romantic location.
8. Shopping – If shopping is one of your many
desires, Taormina’s boutiques and Palermo’s
famous sweet shops should satisfy you plenty.
9. For the love of Arts – If you love the performing
arts, you just have to pay Sicily a visit. Famous
for its theaters and performances, there’s never
a dull moment in Sicily no matter what time of the
year you go.
10. The weather – The marvellous thing about
Sicily is that you can go anytime of the year and
the weather is always mild and just right. It’s
never too cold or extremely hot which makes it such
a draw no matter where you’re coming from.
