Types of real estate & property (part 2)

VILLAS & COTTAGES

In Sicily, in the countryside or near the coast, it is possible to find beautiful villas to purchase, either already restructured or in need of restoration.Restoration can be cheaper although be be aware that the cost of restoration can still be quite high. Life in the Sicilian countryside can be rewarding and if you settle into the community and learn Italian then you can really get to experience the real Sicily.

APARTMENTS (in the city centre or in villages by the seaside/on the mountains)

For those who prefer the hustle and bustle of the city centre, it is possible to purchase apartments in the big towns. Also, an apartment in a small village is a good set-up for those people who intend to spend an intense Sicilian villavacation near the sea or on the mountains, without giving up the conveniences of the inhabited centres. An apartment in a real touristy area sich as Taormina or in the heart of Catania will mean that you have all facilities much more accessible.

Rent prices:

If you want to rent your property, the average rent per month, at the moment is the following:

  • 4 room apartment in the centre of Catania about Euro 1,000 per month but prices can greatly vary according to faiclities.

APARTMENTS COMPLEXES On the coast

In Sicily, by the coast, one can find residential compounds composed of several units (usually cottages for one or two families, or a building with a few apartments). The compounds usually include green areas; some of them with parking lots, small areas equipped for children, swimming pool and tennis courts. This can be an affordable family option.
