Why I Love Living in Catania, Sicily
Living in Catania, Sicily in Italy
Catania has both its pros and cons and despite being a fairly commercial and hectic city in many ways, having close access to the beaches, the Etna volcano, great food and a climate to match, means a great place to live overalll. Some peopel sometimes suggest that living in Catania is also a bit of an experience with it being located at the very foot of the volcanic Mouth Etna; but rather than any kind of issue, the volcano is a point of pride and major tourist attraction for locals and visitors and certainly a place to see if you come to these islands.
I find living in Catania to be quite exciting because it is an ancient city whose history can be traced back toaround 750
B.C. The city, which is known as the Athens of Sicily, has a rich artistic, cultural and political history. When I first arrived in Catania, I did not know a word of Italian or Sicilian, which had me very worried about how I would get around. However, I found to my delight that the locals were glad to accept me and although it was very hard because of the language to start with, I have now settled and love the way of life here.
As long as you have a good job and are not struggling financially, you will enjoy yourself in Catania. The city teaches you to relax and slow down especially if you have migrated from America or the United Kingdom.
